2025 Activity Report

We are delighted to present our 2025 Activity Report.

Over the past two decades, research on inequality has made significant progress. We have moved beyond a long period marked by absent or fragmented inequality statistics. Using the methodology of Distributional
National Accounts (DINA) and thanks to the contributions of more than 200 researchers worldwide, the World Inequality Lab has expanded the World Inequality Database with new indicators and unprecedented
coverage across time and space.

For the first time last year, inequality was formally placed on the agenda of a G20 summit. We strongly endorse the proposal to establish an International Panel on Inequality (IPI), proposed by the Committee led by Joseph E. Stiglitz. Such a panel, modeled after the IPCC, can scale up the work we have been doing for more than two decades.

Our research efforts culminated last year with the publication of the Climate Inequality Report and World Inequality Report. These flagship reports have received global media attention. We hope their findings will continue to inform the public debate, and inspire more research and collective action.
