Nouvelles données et papier sur les inégalités de revenu en Côte d’Ivoire

HIGHLIGHTS: New WID.world data shows that the level of inequality in Côte d’Ivoire is substantially higher than previously thought. According to survey data, the top 1% income share in Côte d’Ivoire was 11.6% in 2014. According to our new estimates, the top 1% income share is of 17.1% and the top 10% earners capture 48.3% of total fiscal income. This places Côte d’Ivoire among the group of high inequality countries, with levels comparable to that of the USA. Income inequality in Côte d’Ivoire decreased from 1988 to 1993, reached a peak in 2002, and moderately decreased over the last two decades.

This new paper by L. Czajka entitled “Income Inequality in Côte d’Ivoire” combines survey and fiscal data to adjust the income distribution from surveys and estimate new inequality statistics in Côte d’Ivoire over the period 1988-2014 .After South Africa and Mauritius, Côte d’Ivoire is now the third Sub-Saharan African country for which we have had access to recent tax data.
